Wire Sawing

Carrier Concrete Cutting LLC  is one of only a select few companies in the state of Florida with the wire sawing capability. Wire sawing is a technique that originated in quarries to extract stone. It has proven to be an ideal choice for removal of thick sections of concrete. If you have a job that requires deep cut sawing with limitless depth the wire saw is what you need for your project.  It is a strand of "diamond beads" strung on a cable that spin when pulled through concrete, stone, steel or any material.  Great for delicate structures and heavilly reinforced concrete.

Service Description:

A hydraulically powered, diamond impregnated “rope” is drawn, like cheesewire, through concrete flooring , walls and beams, leaving clean, smooth surfaces. The wire has a steel core of strands approx. 6m. diameter and can be almost any length. 10mm diamond beads are spaced along its length approximately 30mm apart. The beads are separated by either small springs, plastic or rubber, depending upon the type of wire and the manufacturer.

The wire is positioned over the pulleys and fed through pre-drilled holes in the concrete that is being cut and back over the drive pulley. The wire can be of almost any length and is joined by special crimps. Sawing is carried out by at a constant speed, whilst applying pressure on the wire by gently applying a steady backward movement by expanding the pulleys.

Typical Wire Sawing Applications:

  • Crossovers in extremely thick structures
  • Demolition of mass-concrete forms such as dams, towers, piers and nuclear facilities
  • Cutting of structures under water or otherwise inaccessible
  • Cutting of fixtures with complex, irregular shapes

Advantages of Wire Sawing Technique:

  • Limitless dimensions and volume
  • Precise cuts with no over-cutting at corners and smooth finished surfaces
  • Lack of vibration, noise, dust and flying debris enables “clean” demolition in sensitive and occupied areas
  • Controlled cutting leaves remaining structures safely intact
  • Quick, versatile, safe and economical alternative to conventional demolition
